Download it, print it off, grab a pen and work your way back through this zone. Take another look at the routes you like and then use the handy calendar to decide when you'd like to leave and when you plan to return. Journey Time Planner (Over Land)
Use this part of the planner to work out your overland travel around Australia. Here we are trying to give you a rough idea of the costs and times involved in traveling between the major cities using a bus or a train. Australia is so huge that it's surprisingly hard to get your head around the distances involved. Use this in conjunction with the flight times/prices map on the next page. When you have decided which bits you'll be traveling by bus, which bits by train, where you'll drive and where you'll fly move on to the blank map on page 5 and plot out your route.

This map is just like the page before, except those are all flight routes, prices and times over there. Don't worry if a direct route isn't shown between two cities, you'll probably just have to make a quick transfer en route. Don't be sucked into flying everywhere just because it looks quicker and cheaper on paper. There's a lot of fun to be had in between the dots on the map
