Much of the epic journey will be tailored as we go, so flexibility is the main ingredient of this tour. The first few days finds us taking the south coast road down to Victoria. Then a two-night stop in the cosmopolitan city of Melbourne before we journey along the world famous Great Ocean Road.

Explore Adelaide before we cross the mighty Nullarbor Plain. On our way to the Southern Ocean towns of Albany and Esperance we may spot whales, dolphins or even wild camels on this desolate stretch of highway. We will hike in the treetops at the ‘Valley of the Giants’ before climbing the famous Bicentennial Tree.

From the Karri forests we will then take time to explore some of the great caves found in this area. We watch the Indian and Southern Ocean convergence before a glass of wine as we tour the Margaret River winery area. Relax in Perth for a couple of nights.

Come explore the Pinnacles and then hike in Kalbarri National Park. Interact with the dolphins at Monkey Mia before we arrive at Coral Bay and Ningaloo Reef. Next stop the 2500 million year old Hamersley Ranges. See the spectacular blue and orange rock formations at Karijini National Park where we hike into Hancock and Weano Gorges and swim in the clear rock pools.

Catch a camel ride on the beach, a movie in the outdoor picture theatre or spend time in the pearling museum whilst in Broome. From here we continue northeast, take a boat ride on Geike Gorge before we join our 4WD for a 2-day tour through the Bungle Bungle Ranges. Visit Mini Palms, Echidna Chasm, Cathedral Gorge and walk along Piccaninny Creek before we must head back to Turkey Creek. See the Ord River Dam system that irrigates this northwest corner of the state, hike in Hidden Valley and relax in Kununurra before crossing the border into the Northern Territory.

Next stop Litchfield National Park with it’s magnetic termite mounds before some time in the northern capital of Darwin. Spend 2 days exploring Kakadu National Park, learn about the worlds’ oldest rock art and see the multitude of wildlife that abounds in this World Heritage Area. We learn some of the customs and culture of the aboriginal people at Manyallaluk, where you will learn how to “make fire,” throw a spear, do bark painting and even try “Bush Tucker.”

Maybe take a cruise up the spectacular Katherine Gorge system before photographing the sunset and sunrise at the Devils Marbles. Come and hike the rim trail at Kings Canyon before arriving at Uluru (Ayers Rock) in time to see and photograph the spectacular sunset. Next day we’ll hike around the base of Uluru and learn some of the Aboriginal legends surrounding this ancient monolith before we head out to explore Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Then we have a well deserved break in Alice Springs.

Meet Russell and his reptiles before arriving in Cairns, where we join our multi-million dollar sailing boat for a full day out to the Barrier Reef. You will then be spoilt for choice with 5 days of beaches, water sports and Islands when we stay at Mission Beach, Magnetic Island and Airlie Beach. Get your pulse racing with the option of whitewater rafting or tandem skydiving at Mission Beach, then let your cares float away as you cruise around the Whitsunday Islands.

Head inland to our private cattle station and jump on a horse or motorbike as we help out on this outback station whilst our hosts spoil you with country hospitality.

Spend the next 2 days exploring Moreton Island, where you’ll see the world’s highest sand dune. We will swim in pristine lakes, cruise the beach highway in our 4WD vehicle and if we are lucky, spot whales and dolphins from the lighthouse.

Last chance to get sand between your toes as we spend our last 2 nights in the coastal towns of Byron Bay and Coffs Harbour. There will be time to relax on the beach and recount our favourite experiences from this great adventure as the sun sets over the sea before returning back to Sydney.
