When you're on your placement, if you'd like to extend your time, you can do so at a cost of £245 per additional week.

This is the ultimate experience or apprenticeship for veterinary, biology, zoology or ecology students. Shamwari is a world famous game reserve so if you want an awe-inspiring, life-changing, behind-the-scenes experience, helping with the running of arguably the best game reserve in South Africa, then Shamwari is for you!

All our rates include your return transfer and pick up from airport, all accommodation for the duration of your placement, all meals and placement activities. We are a fully bonded agent through IATA; in conjunction with South Africa Airways we can offer some fantastic rates on international airfare.
This course is ideally an eight-week course, but you can do a 2, 4, or 6-week segment. It encompasses theory with lots of practical work on a selection of game reserves, so it is suited to anyone wishing to learn practical conservation skills or to experience Africa's wildlife first-hand.

Costs vary depending on the length of course you choose. Prices start from £925 for 2 weeks and include food and accommodation, 24/7 support and backup before you go and throughout your placement, as well as meeting you at the nearest airport. When you're on your placement, if you'd like to extend your time, you can do so at a minimal additional cost.
The course is certificated and there is an additional First Aid Course. If you choose to sit the exams, there will be an addition fee to be paid of approximately £100.
Duration details:
As this is a course, you probably wouldn't want to extend it. However, you can do other projects in South Africa in conjunction with this one, such as a Game Reserve conservation project where you can put your newly-learned skills into practice.
